Resin Bench Models - "Lilith "
02-04-2012 - The enitire "Lilith " build will be posted as a step-by-step pictoral review shortly. I will show you how I did the entire maodel and how it progressed from start to finish. For now, enjoy the completed figure gallery!
02-01-2012 - Today starts the day of the "Lilith " build produced by "Resin Bench Models". From first appearances - the kit looks absolutely top notch. Casting looks great with very little evidence of seams, no pin holes and it is a great size too - got to be close to 1/4 scale. The pieces are separated nicely which will allow almost all painting to be done prior to assembly - for that reason, the first step will be to sleeve and pin everything. For those of you not familiar with my "sleeve and pin" technique - the photos will follow through the process.

Monsters in Motion - "Barb Wire "
12-30-2011 - Here
I am again with a new build on the bench. This is the "Monsters in
Motion" Barb Wire kit. She is very cleanly cast in 6 resin pieces. From
what I have available on this kit, this would be a second run to the original.
The body of this kit is hollow and was cast in a light grey color. I already
have her partially assembled and am now in the process or applying the paint. I
think the resemblance to Pamela is actually pretty good. John Wright sculpted
the kit for MIM years ago and it still remains stunning. I will be using typical colors in keeping the original
character accurate.
With these next few photos, I have already applied, filled and sanded the seams and applied the skin tones and facial base colors. The hands have been base painted. The gun barrel was also drilled out for accuracy. And yes, for those of you "observant" types, stockings have been painted for a "special" addition!

01-01-2012 - Yea, yea, yea - hind sight is 20/20. Since I've been away from the kit for a while now, I have realized I want this to be more than a standard "Barb Wire"! Prior to putting the kit aside, I "jumped the gun" so to say and have since thought about progress. I had already applied the black of her outfit and completed the base due to my previous batch of poly mixed up. When painting the back around her laces, I realized - hey, that's kind of crappy! So, from here, I am going to rethink the kit a bit. I am going to take a step back! My plan is to grind/sand off all the cast laces and buttons from her outfit - including the front, back and arms. From there, I will drill out each button and install pin heads and real lace! This will certainly add to detail and well as make the kit much more realistic! I've also done a bit of research to find that Pam's eyes are actually a hazel type color - this will be corrected as well. So the results of the next few photos you see will eventually be changed a bit!
01-25-2012 - Back on the bench working away today. As stated in the earlier entry, I thought I would re-do the lacing of her jumpsuit, so that process follows along with the photographs below. First step was to remove the molded buttons - did so with the quick flip of an X-Acto knife. Second step was to drill each hole for pin placement later. Third step was to grind off any lacing that was molded into the figure. After grinding off the lacing, it is easy to see why the drilling was done first. If they had not been drilled first, proper placement of the holes would have been lost. Fourth step was to sand everything down real good. After that, the next step I used was to add the detail trim and such back into the jumpsuit by using a small jewelers file. Once that was complete, another coat of primer and some black paint. Whamo - no more molded laces! Now ready for pin installation and real laces! The same process will be used for her back and each of her arms!
01-27-2012 - On to the other task now. In hind sight, I found that eye color was going to be an issue, so since yesterday, I have redone her eyes in a light blue/grey. I went over the brown with a light blue, then used a combination of pearl white and candy blue for the resulting color. Then coated them with a bit of poly clear. Continueing the painting today with hair and clear coats over her jumpsuit. If remaining on schedule, we'll be adding laces and such tomorrow!
01-28-2012 - Very productive yesterday and the Barb Wire kit is starting to look as planned. Finished her face up with the new eye color, added the hair color and actually got to do the laces of her jumpsuit. Very difficult to see the true effect in the photos, but looks great in person. Both the front and the back of her suit now carry true lacing and pin head studs. Also added a small tat around her left arm and a piece of silver chain around her choker. Applied the various top coats which will render different textures to her leather junmpsuit. Although I had planned on the laces for her arms, that plan has changed yet again. Due to the extremely small size and the detail that would be lost, I have opted to only install the pin heads and paint the lacing of her arm instead. But that will be todays project - the Arms!
01-29-2012 - Arms have now been finished
and we are just requiring the final details and assembly. Both arms will be
installed into the figure using the sleeve and pin method. The right arm
however will remain "removable" to allow easy removal if ever
required in the future. The arms were treated very similar to the process used
on her jumpsuit above. The following photos represent the progress in various
stages. The gun will be painted in a steel color prior to installation. I have never had much luck in creating the “chrome”
appearance, but steel in color would represent better than a basic black. Once painted and installed on the body, the
project is pretty much complete. I have added a few "special details"
not included within the original kit which can be seen in the completed model
gallery here!
