SolarWinds "Winged Karnstein"

This model kit, released from Solarwind and produced by FireFox studios was an absolutely stunning kit.  The kit was a relatively easy build in eight pieces which included the base.  Pieces are separated and well thought out in the casting process, allowing most modelers to paint prior to assembly – leaving a very near seamless assembly.  The castings were extremely clean and left very little in need of cleaning and patching.  This version of “Karnstein” is in 1/6th scale leaving a fairly large, workable figure which stands over 15” tall from the base bottom to the top of her wingtips.  I painted the piece very much like box art in a dark grays and blacks, adding a metallic finish to some portions of her costume and gold accents around edges.  Wings were also done in dark colors adding very slight metallics rendering the wings as fragile and thin.  Veins of the wings were airbruched in pinks and browns with Ivory for the exposed claw tips.  Skin tones of “Karnstein” are of a moderate tan color with exceptionally smooth blending between pinks and oranges.  Dark, blood red lips, bright blue eyes and light blonde hair also completed to box art samples.
