Dicemans "Vampirella - Relax "
This was an amazing piece to have a chance to work with. I believe sculpted by Ed White, produced by Ed Bowkley, “Diceman”, and entitled “Relax”. I had it sent to me as a kit that had been started, but was not finished. I received it in three pieces, the rocky throne, the “Vampirella” figure, and one leg. Whether or not the original kit came in these pieces, I’m not sure. Needless to say, any of the work that had been done – needed to be pretty much undone. After removing most of the original paints and primers, the remainder of the piece was re-assembled with typical pins, re-primed and painted. The end result of the project is shown here – I think the client, as well as myself, were pleased with the results. This is a relatively heavy piece, being of solid pink resin and sitting around 8” tall as shown, I would estimate the scale being around 1/6th. The “Vampirella” figure was painted in slightly darker skin tones than normal and the rocky throne was painted to simulate real rock. The blood pool was created by combining opaque and transparent candy reds over a silver base coat, then coated with a mix of semi-gloss and gloss top coat. What turned out exceptionally well, is the light texture that was achieved on her skin. In examining the extreme close-up photos, it is almost difficult to distinguish this models skin from real! The skin textures this “Vampirella” as moderately aged – (Hey, they can’t all be 22!) Detail throughout the kit is very good with the inclusion of embedded bones in the throne. This was a great piece to work with and would certainly be a terrific piece within anyone’s “Vampirella” collection.
